Summer Library Program
It’s hard to believe, but another school year is almost behind us! Soon, kids will be out for the summer, which means there’ll be plenty of time for reading and other fun activities. Join us for some summer fun at the Ida Grove Library. Our summer library theme for 2024 is Read, Renew, Repeat. We’ve lined up exciting programs, in-library activities, take home packets AND a free family movie series to celebrate this summer's theme.
The summer library program is very simple: You read books to complete levels and earn incentives. Along the way, be sure to attend programs, storytimes, and much more at the library. This year we have some very special guests visiting along with movies and grab & go packets for take-home fun!
Program registration begins May 6, 2024, with programs running from June 6th through July 11th. Just stop by the library to sign up for the program and pick up a schedule of events. As always, library programs are FREE.

Important Information about the 2024 Summer Program
Below you will find more information regarding weekly programs, please take a moment to read through this section so that you know what to expect!
Note: All children under the age of 8 or large groups of children need to be supervised by a parent/guardian/responsible caregiver during all programs. No exceptions will be made. Children over 8 may attend without an adult but will be expected to follow all rules set by in-library presenters, library staff, and King Theater.
June 6, 2024 @ 10:30 am - Jedi Adventures with Toby Kid
Kick off Summer right with an out-of-this-world experience! Droids, Wookies, & Porgs, light saber duels, and the dark side all show up for a romp through the galaxy of fun.
June 11, 2024 @ 6 pm - Movies @ The King Featuring Over the Hedge
Join the library in celebrating summer with a special FREE family movie. Showtime is at 6pm sharp, admission to the movie is free and concessions will be available for purchase.
June 13, 2024 @ 10:30 am - Adam White Magic
A brand new program for 2024! Stop in for a fantastic and interactive summer reading magic show! This program is generously sponsored by Shelby County State Bank.
June 18, 2024 @ 6 pm - Movies @ The King Featuring The Lorax
Join the library in celebrating summer with a special FREE family movie. Showtime is at 6pm sharp, admission to the movie is free and concessions will be available for purchase.
June 20, 2024 @ 10:30 am - Darrin Crow, Storyteller
Our favorite storyteller returns to the library in 2024! Join Darrin for outrageous new adventures and a whopping good time!
June 25, 2024 @ 6 pm - Movies @ The King Featuring Happy Feet
Join the library in celebrating summer with a special FREE family movie. Showtime is at 6pm sharp, admission to the movie is free and concessions will be available for purchase.
June 27, 2024 @ 10:30 am - Circus Pop! The Big Bubble Show
Join us for Circus Pop! with Logan Jimenez! All the tricks of a bubble show (giant 20-foot-long soap bubbles, bubble volcanoes, etc) with circus stunts like fire eating and magic. A wacky and humorous family show.
July 2, 2024 @ 6 pm - Movies @ The King Featuring Yogi Bear

Come out and celebrate summer with a pool party! We'll be at the Recreation Center's Outdoor Pool. Picnic lunches will be provided for children attending!
